Fill out the application below. Provide as much information as you can. The more the better. if your request meets the preliminary criteria of LWOB, a more detailed Pro Bono Application will be forwarded to you via email.
When the material and information sought in the detailed application is received, and your organization has met the preliminary eligibility criteria, your application and accompanying materials will be shared with law firms seeking pro bono opportunities in the non-profit sector.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You can you best improve your chance at finding pro bono counsel by:
1) Replying to all LWOB generated correspondence quickly.
2) Give LWOB as much documentary support as you can. Do not tell us to "go to your website" for answers.
3) Demonstrate in your communications with us that you are organized, have a definite plan, know what you want to accomplish and are ready to proceed to your goal, appreciate the importance of responding quickly to queries and request for documentation or follow up.
If we feel that simple queries cannot be managed between your NGO and our offices, we will not even begin the process of attempting to profile your request to the law firms.
3) Let us know if your legal needs have changed, if there is urgency in your request, if there is a need for a lawyer in a particular region or if you have obtained counsel.
4) Our new policy will simply take your information and post it to our website. It will remain there until you advise us in writing to please remove it. We will no longer undertake to recruit lawyers to assist you, but invite lawyers viewing our site to make direct contact with you, so be sure to have your "contact" person be someone knowledgeable about your legal need.
NOTE: At no time will a lawyer-client relationship be created between your organisation and LWOB or any law firm reviewing your application until a formal retainer agreement between your organization and the law firm is executed by both parties. LWOB does not represent NGO's or individuals.
